1921 OA became an official program experiment of the BSA
● October 1925 A separate Brotherhood honor created
June 2, 1934 National Executive Committee of BSA approves OA
● 1940 Creation of Distinguished Service Award
1940 National Meeting first mentions the establishment of chapters
● December 1947 First OA Handbook
● May 1948 Full integration into BSA program

● 1968 Creation of the Red Arrow Award
