In the
formative years of the Boy Scouts of America, the Order of the Arrow was
just one of the over 100 known honor camper societies that existed in Scout
Camps and Councils throughout the United States.
In the Berkshire Council, there was
such an honor society known as the Wonnux Tribe.
The Wonnux Tribe became Penain Sew Netami
Lodge 507 of the Order of the Arrow.
The Penain Sew Netami Lodge 507 was part of the Berkshire Council and
was chartered in 1954. The Lodge totem was a Hunting Eagle.
Metacomet Lodge 556 was chartered in 1962 and was in the Hampshire-Franklin
Council located in North Hampton, MA. The Lodge totem was the Sunrise.
When the Berkshire Council and the Hampshire-Franklin Council merged in
1968 to form the Great Trails Council, Penain Sew Netami Lodge 507 and Metacomet Lodge 556 also merged resulting in Memsochet
Lodge 507.
Memsochet translates to Traveler and the Lodge totem is a pair
of moccasins. Memsochet 507 is in The Great Trails Council located in Dalton, MA.
